From celebrations to festivals
From Orthez to Monein, from one village to another, music, traditions and local food are staples in this region where we absolutely love to go out and celebrate.
Jazz Festival in Orthez
Each March, some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians flock to Orthez. Created in 1994, this festival has already welcomed the likes of Didier Lockwood, Manu Katché, Manu Dibango…
Les Partitions Bucoliques Festival
This classical music festival (directed by Jacques Borsarello) takes place in July and August. It aims to highlight the beauty of our land and heritage. Many of our villages’ renovated churches make for fantastic concert halls thanks to their exceptional acoustics.
Since 2010, many artists have performed at the festival: Jacques Borsarello, Hervé N’Kaoua, Paul Rouger…
Local festivities : an institution
In a land where we love to celebrate life, each village has its own celebration. A perfect opportunity to share great moments with friends and family and to perpetuate traditions.
The third weekend in July, all the « festayres » (party-goers) flock to Orthez for the local festivities: street music, bar parties, bandas, course landaise and corrida take the city by storm! Don’t forget your red and white party outfit!
The first weekend in August, Monein takes over for 4 days of non-stop celebration in the city!
A party in the vineyards !From September to December, it’s harvest season, a great reason to celebrate in the Jurançon vineyards. Exhibits, poetry readings in the wineries, singing, theatre… a perfect time to discover the region! The wine-makers of the Jurançon Wine Road open the doors to their wineries for us all to enjoy convivial cultural moments… with wine and food tastings, of course! Do not miss the Fêtes des Vendanges and Portes Ouvertes en Jurançon.
