Domaine Cauhapé

MONEIN
Vignobles et découvertes Agriculture Raisonnée Pets welcome

The estate is in Monein, the heart of the Jurançon AOC region and near to the church of St.Girons, a renowned historic monument. Archives reveal that in 1558 the estate had four hectares of vines and was called Caussepe. In 1980 Henri RAMONTEU took over the estate, which still covered four hectares. Now the vineyard extends to over 46 hectares of hillside, all south west facing the South-West. The plots of Gros Manseng are mostly kept for making dry whites, renowned for their crisp and rich aromas. The Petit Manseng, harvested successively, creates great sweet white wines, which evoke candied fruit, roasts, honey… the very essence of air dried grapes.
When nature permits, the vines are left to grow on until the first winter frosts so that the very last grapes can be harvested with their unique taste which has been changed due to the extended growing season and exposure to colder weather
