An exhibition dedicated to the watercolors and lithographs of a great 19th-century explorer of the Pyrenees, Émilien Frossard.
Through his efforts to popularize the region, his first-rate artistic work, his role as a founding member of the Ramond Society, and his influence on several generations of explorers, he helped shape the way the Pyrenees were perceived and contributed to landmark projects such as the Pic du Midi de Bigorre Observatory.
Without overlooking his pastoral work—which made him a prominent figure in Protestantism in Bigorre and Béarn during the 19th century—it is indeed the mountains that form the heart of his legacy.
The works presented here come from private collections, the Pyr%E9n%in Lourdes, the Hautes-Pyrénées departmental archives, the heritage library in Pau, the media library, and the church in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.
